Friday, January 21st 2011 (Day 195)

Friday to Sunday we went to Tecate, Mexico with four youth from Dolores Mission. We went to Tecate to build a house for Nayeli and her baby girl Nayomi.

We stopped at a beach to stretch our legs before we crossed over into Mexico. Raul checking out his reflection.

We stayed with the truly wonderful family of Lisa and Richardo. Their generosity and love seemed to come from every part of themselves and their lives. They have hosted at least a dozen service trip groups in Tecate.

The first night we did a reflection outside and Lisa lent me this poncho because it was surprisingly chilly. I was the only person on the trip that spoke only English. During the reflection Paula read allowed a letter written in Spanish from Nayeli. I had barely just met Lisa and she simply slipped next to me and quietly translated the letter to me. I felt truly welcomed and embraced by this act.
